Project objectives
The goal of the Mongolia LMI Project is to install low cost community-centric telecommunication services – primarily voice – in four soum centers so that those living in these rural communities will have telephony access linking them not only to their neighboring citizens, but to the other cities of Mongolia , and to the world.

LMI project progress:
June 24, 2007 – Ribbon cutting of WiFi network at Saikhan soum of Bulgan aimag.

June 22-28, 2007 – Mission of Steven Rynecki, AED, project manager of LMI project of USAID to Mongolia.

March , 2007 – WiFi network established in Saikhan soum of Bulgan aimag.

November, 2006 WiFi network is established in Tsagaannuur bagh of Tariat soum of Arkhangai aimag

October, 2007 –Incomnet Company won a tender to setup WiFi network at Saikhan soum of Bulgan aimag and Tsengel soum of Bayan-Ulgii aimag.

September 2006 – Release results of Request for proposals, Mission of Steve Rynecki, visit to Dadal soum of Khentii aimag

August 2006 Mission of Joel Schroeder, business model development specialist to work with operators

July 2006 Request for proposals to install and operate WiFi networks in Tsengel soum of Bayan-Ulgii aimag and Saikhan soum of Bulgan aimag

June 2006 Installation of VSAT network by Terravox in Dadal soum of Khentii aimag

May 2006 Installation of the WiFi network in Khairkhan soum of Arkhangai aimag by Incomnet

May 2006 Visit of Michael Tetelman of AED, acting director of DOT-ORG to monitor and evaluation LMI project progress

March 2006 Installation and start of pilot testing of WiFi network in Dadal soum of Khentii aimag

December 2005 Project launch: Mission of Steven Rynecki – Project director, Darrell Owen – consultant, Dave Lyman – IT expert
