Improved consumer access to telecommunications services in rural areas”, component of Information and Communications Infrastructure Development Project of World Bank and ICTA.

The project will provide herder communities with access to at least one public payphone.

The Intelecon Research and Consultancy Ltd. Company of Canada is implementing this component of the project.

The Intec Company and MIDAS/MONITA NGO have been subcontracted by Intelecon to conduct herder demand for telecommunications services.

Project timeline

May 6-June 3, 2007 – Herder telecommunications demand study in Central, Southern, Eastern, Northern and Western parts of Mongolia. InTec Company   has conducted herder demand study in Southern and Eastern aimags.

May 4, 2007 – Pretest of demand study instruments in Altanbulag soum of Tuv aimag.

May 2-3, 2007 – Training for researchers

April 1 – 29, 2007 – Finalization of instruments, translation of instruments and preparation for the training.

March 23-30 – Working on instruments for herder demand study
